Research: Magazine Advert
Previous A2 adverts:
This magazine advert looks relatively professional. It has most conventions necessary to make it a successful magazine advert such as reviews, release date, parental advisory, online retailers and even social media pages. The colours also work well together, the grey fade into white looks well polishes and allows the pink/ red title to stand out.
Newly released albums in magazine adverts:
There were not a huge amount of magazine album adverts online; especially not many newly released ones, however below are some that I gathered.
High street Retailers:
I went into a few high street retailers and it was soon made clear that there were very few music magazines available and once big named magazines like Mojo and NME were no where to be seen. Despite this one shop that I entered had a Rolling Stones issue on display despite it being almost hidden on the top shelf.
Below is an example of a rolling stones magazine.
Genres and Target Audiences:
Different artist will target their audiences differently depending on their dominant music genre.
For example an artists who's music fits a rock genre may use dark colours and perhaps try and get a controversial message across; such as the Gorillaz who often portray political messages in their music which reflects in their advertising.
In comparison to this a pop artist may use bright colours, modern clothing and even social media to attract their sightly younger teenage fan base.

Retailers
High street retailers:
HMV would be one of the most renound high street retailers for CD's and Digipaks. They sell all genres ranging from Hip-Hop to classical music; catering for a wide range of people. Despite this in 2012, HMV had to close down 40 stores in a bid to save millions in cost and the main reason for this was online retailers.
Online retailers:
Online retailers such as 'amazon', 'spotify' and 'apple music' offer everything that the ordinary high street retailer like HMV would but at a much easier grasp as people can access their music through their devices like phones and laptops within a matter of minutes and at a much cheaper price. Front covers are often shown on these online retailers as well as institutional information however the digital is rarely included.

Below are a few digipak net templates that could possibly be used as inspiration when creating my own.
Net 1:
This digipak net has 6 parts to it and one CD slot.
Net 2:
This digipack net is similar to the one above however it has space for two CD slots.
Net 3:
This digipak net only has four parts to it.
Net 4:
this digipak nets 8 parts to it and is most similar to typical digipaks.
